Employee Advocacy Platform Transformation

Overview:

I led the relaunch and modernization of Cisco’s Employee Advocacy Program, redesigning the platform experience, engagement strategy, and content amplification model to increase employee participation, improve executive engagement, and expand organic reach across LinkedIn.

The initiative transformed a fragmented and underutilized advocacy ecosystem into a scalable employee engagement platform that empowered employees to confidently share Cisco content while encouraging internal content teams to create more engaging, accessible, and publicly relevant thought leadership optimized for amplification and interaction.

By combining platform modernization, engagement analytics, content optimization, and employee behavior insights, the program significantly increased content sharing, audience engagement, and earned media value while establishing a more scalable framework for employee-driven brand amplification.

Problem:

Cisco’s existing employee advocacy program suffered from low engagement, inconsistent employee participation, and limited amplification impact across LinkedIn.

Much of the existing content was highly technical and primarily designed for niche technical audiences, making it difficult for employees outside specialized functions to confidently engage with or share content across their personal professional networks.

As a result:

  • employee participation remained limited
  • executive engagement was inconsistent
  • content amplification opportunities were underutilized
  • valuable Cisco thought leadership failed to reach broader professional audiences.

The organization needed a more scalable engagement model capable of improving content accessibility, increasing employee confidence in sharing, and driving stronger organic amplification across LinkedIn.

My Role:

Employee Advocacy Strategy & Program Relaunch

Led the strategy and relaunch of Cisco’s Employee Advocacy Program, redefining the content engagement model, employee participation strategy, and operational framework to improve adoption and amplification across the organization.

Platform Evaluation & Vendor Partnership

Oversaw platform evaluation, selection, and negotiation processes, leading the successful pilot and rollout of LinkedIn Elevate to modernize employee advocacy workflows and improve employee sharing experiences.

Content Strategy & Engagement Optimization

Directed performance analysis and content audits to identify engagement gaps, optimize content strategy, and improve relevance, participation, and amplification across employee and executive audiences.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination

Managed and mentored a team of three employees while partnering across Social Media, Communications, Marketing, and Executive stakeholders to align content priorities, engagement strategies, and advocacy initiatives.

Approach:

I approached the relaunch as both a content engagement and organizational behavior challenge, focusing on improving content accessibility, simplifying employee participation, and creating stronger incentives for high-performing content creation.

I used content performance analysis, employee engagement trends, and sharing behavior insights to identify gaps in relevance and amplification potential across the existing advocacy ecosystem.

The LinkedIn Elevate engagement-based prioritization model created a more dynamic feedback loop between content performance and visibility, encouraging internal content teams to produce more engaging, broadly understandable, and publicly relevant content optimized for employee amplification and audience interaction.

Solution:

The resulting program transformed Cisco’s employee advocacy ecosystem into a scalable engagement platform that improved employee participation, increased executive engagement, and significantly expanded content amplification across LinkedIn.

The relaunch also helped shift broader content strategy and creation practices across the organization by incentivizing more engaging, audience-friendly content optimized for employee sharing and public interaction rather than highly technical niche consumption alone.
